The Prairie/Frontier Collection / Big Sky Riding Skirt

At the turn of the 20th century, equestrian women who were determined to ride astride, rather than sidesaddle, wore these divided skirts that enabled them to mount horses and still look socially acceptable. An ingenious fashion, with front panel that buttons one way for a skirt and the other way for pants. Pattern is derived from a skirt worn by legendary rancher and rodeo rider, Fannie Sperry Steele. Misses 8-18
